Notification badges are obnoxious

I love this app and it has helped me stay in touch with my long distance SO. However, I will often get badges on the app thinking I have a message from him, but its actually a "sticker sale," or something useless like that. There is a lot to click through before I can get rid of it. I dont mind integrated ads but this feature is really misleading and annoying. Please remove it.
